Abstract
Summary form only given. We have investigated the interaction of positive-positive solitons, positive-negative solitons and negative-negative solitons via computer simulation. We have developed a simulation code to see the evolution of potential governed by MKdV equation. The simulation study shows that the solitons are modified during interaction and they preserve their structure after interaction. During interaction of solitons of opposite polarity, it is observed in the computer experiment that initially the amplitude of the larger soliton increases to a maximum value while that of smaller soliton decreases to a minimum value and subsequently it reverses. Moreover, investigations show that the increment in the amplitude of the larger amplitude soliton increases with increasing the amplitude of the smaller amplitude soliton. However, the increment in the amplitude of the larger soliton is independent of the width of the smaller soliton during interaction. In case of interaction of soliton of same polarity, the amplitude of larger one decreases while that of smaller one increases. In both cases, phase shifts are observed. Interactions of solitons of same polarity and of opposite polarity are not same.
