Research on Tourism Information Systems for Self-drive tourists

With the development of Self-drive travel and the broad field of the geographic information system (GIS) application in practice, the establishment of tourism information systems for self-drive travel is imperative. On the basic of tourist demand information collection through a questionnaire which was conducted on a Website, this paper started with the analysis of the Self-drive tourists´ demand and supply, then analyzed the tourism information system for self-drive tourists(TISDT) from several aspects: system users, system functions, advantages, data access and equipments requested; A TISDT was designed from the following aspects: the demand of users, system objective, structure, system configuration, database design, system functions, financial and management; at last, the research discussed the system implementation, operation and maintenance, the existence of the gap, and studies prospect such as the system achieving in the mobile network platform.
