            Abstract : 
Distillation is the most important separation process in the chemical and petrochemical industries. Constant product quality (smaller variances around set points) is important to the economics of the product columns. Product quality controllers are usually of the PI type. In this research, a rule-based scheme for adjusting the PI controllers is proposed for a binary distillation column. The scheme uses fuzzy rules and reasoning online to determine the controller parameters based on the error signal and its first difference
