Abstract :
In order to optimise grid interaction, advanced control schemes for the power train of a railway traction vehicle operating at the 15-kV, 16.7-Hz-grid have to take grid interaction into account. To achieve a satisfying performance, advanced simulation tools as well as suitable laboratory experiments for verification are needed. This paper is focussed on a 16.7-Hz single-phase laboratory grid emulation consisting of a slip-ring induction generator providing fundamental power and a synchronised dead-beat-controlled four-quadrant inverter (4qi) emulating line-current harmonics and grid impedance. Both, the verification of the used induction generator by measurements and simulation results outlining the dynamic behavior of the single induction generator and in a second step the behavior of the IG synchronised with the 4qi at load-steps are presented.
