Abstract :
Direct voltage can be converted to alternating voltage (and vice versa) with an inverter. The control of the inverter is based on the control of power switches and the usage of a suitable modulation method. The control of the inverter is proposed to be done in an FPGA circuit that allows quick parallel calculation. Because of the architecture of the FPGA circuits, the sufficient byte length of the fixed-point notation has to be taken into account. The statistical characteristics and histogram of the difference are examined between a fixed-point VHDL model and a floating-point system.
