Abstract :
In the manufacturing environment, production activities and distribution should be coordinated effectively to enhance its profit in today´s competitive market. An integrated decision on production assignment and delivery polices for a single manufacturer with multi-plants which are capacitated and a single retailer is discussed in this paper. A mathematical programming model is presented to determine the production cycle, delivery frequency and the economic production allocation that minimize the average total cost. An assignment heuristic is designed to solve the near-optimal production allocation ratios. An example is demonstrated and discussed.
