  • Abstract
The author reviews some of the traditional and new services provided by clinical engineers. He discusses the roles played by reimbursement, service choices, maintenance, insurance, ongoing service analysis, new service opportunities and methods, application assistance, new business opportunities, and professional development. It is concluded that, in the future, the business of clinical engineering will become more competitive and cost conscious. As a result, the emphasis on providing value must be augmented by greater skills in the management of the business side of providing services
