  • Abstract
Technological progress is one of the main powers to economic growth. This paper uses the method of Solow Residual to estimate technological progress contribution rate to economic growth of six central China provinces from 1990 to 2005, and comes to a conclusion: its average of technological progress contribution rates is only 34.81% from 1990 to 2005, which is below the average level of China. Then it analyzes the reasons, which course the low rates. Finally it puts forward some suggestions to improve technological progress contribution rate in central China, which are enlarging sci-tech input, promoting industry-university-institute collaboration research and accelerating sci-tech production industrialization.
