Abstract :
In this report, the upconversion and photon avalanche processes in Tm/sup 3+/:LaF/sub 3/ are studied in pulse excitation and the avalanche mechanisms and related spectroscopic parameters in Tm doped materials will be discussed in both continuous and pulse excitations.
