Abstract :
Using high-power KrF laser ablation, the fabrication of planar laser waveguide structures and nonlinear optical waveguide structures has been demonstrated. The laser waveguide structure was fabricated by depositing an ion doped YAG/GGG layer on an YAG substrate. Cr,Nd co-doped GGG on YAG, Cr doped GGG, Cr doped YAG, and Yb doped YAG were fabricated. The optical waveguide was characterized by optical absorption spectra, photoluminescence spectral intensity, laser propagation loss, and valence state of Cr ions by XPS. In addition, nonlinear optical films of Co:BaTiO/sub 3/ and KNbO/sub 3/ were fabricated and characterized by Maker-Fringe method.
