Abstract
The diagnostic imaging industry is undergoing rapid change as manufacturers improve existing technology to meet the needs of the US and global market. Global overcapacity, however, in conjunction with national governments´ efforts to reduce health care costs, is forcing the global industry to minimize production costs. This has led to strategic alliances between manufacturers on a global scale to offer the broadest product mix at the lowest price. Although US products compete well domestically and abroad, foreign competition is increasing sharply, especially in the US
