Abstract :
Sigma-delta modulation (SDM) technique, well known in the telecommunication industry, has recently shown its feasibility in conventional three phase power converters. In this paper, the SDM method is extended for the voltage modulation of multiphase power converters. Experimental results are presented to show the viability of SDM technique in an asymmetrical dual three-phase AC machine, comparing its performance with the Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) method.
