Abstract
We consider the propagation of modes guided by an axially magnetized cylindrical plasma column surrounded by free space with allowance for absorption of electromagnetic energy in plasma. The main attention is paid to modes in the whistler range. Losses in the plasma are accounted for by introducing electron collisions. We determine the dispersion properties, damping constants, and field structures of eigenmodes of the plasma column and discuss how these characteristics depend on the plasma parameters. The results obtained are useful for clarification of the features of the power absorption in collisional magnetized plasma structures capable of guiding electromagnetic waves in the whistler range
