Abstract :
The authors studied a series of 26 SAR interferograms to examine the variation in the interferometric phase, caused by spatial variability in atmospheric propagation delay. Meteorological observations confirm the driving mechanisms behind this variability. The authors comment on the potential of meteorological data to assess the interferogram quality a priori. Weather radar and synoptic observations give a good indication for strong atmospheric signal, while weather satellite images can be used for reconnaissance if acquired within an hour from the SAR acquisitions
