A Large Scale Data Management System for BESGrid

BES is a large internationally collaborative experiment, which produces more than 1PB of data every year. To meet the requirements of data storage and analysis, the BESGrid project has been launched. Data management is a very important part of BESGrid, and we designed and developed a large scale data management system. The system is responsible for storing a large amount of data, providing high-performance data access bandwidth, distributing these data to different collaboration sites around the world, keeping the physical location of all the data in different sites and so on. This paper gives an introduction of the data management system, including its architecture, design, implementation and operations.
