Abstract
Polycrystalline molybdenum nanotips can be grown on stainless steel substrates by simple thermal vapor deposition. Individual nanotip has very good conductivity of typical average value of about 4.99×104 Ω-1cm-1; ie, only an order of magnitude less than the value of bulk Mo. The field emission (FE) measurements exhibit good performance, i.e, turn-on field of ~1.6 MV/m and threshold field of ~3.1 MV/m, current density of ~120 mA/cm2 were recorded, and the current fluctuation of ±3.56% was observed when the current density is 50 mA/cm2.
