Abstract :
PULSS is a novel healthcare system design used for diagnosis of Obstetric ultrasonography with high reliability. It can be easily carried by the healthcare workers to the homes of pregnant woman living in low resource setting areas. This paper addresses the solution for prenatal issues that occur in rural areas of developing and under developing countries which have lack of access to health care in low resource settings. It proposes the development of a low cost portable medical diagnostic device to perform Obstetric ultrasonography and also incorporate a telehealth system which monitor the some other physiological parameters. In terms of hardware, the device consists of medical sensors, a SD card and central controller. The physiological sensors enable the measurement of blood pressure, blood oxygen saturation, and electrocardiogram. The data is collected in SD card and community health workers´ inputs, accesses the remote electronic health record, applies machine intelligence to highlight potential diagnoses based upon collected information, and worker conveys doctor´s report to the concerned woman during the next visit to the low resource setting areas. The availability of this device would form the basis for a global effort to improve the healthcare in low resource settings and reduce the health disparities for prenatal disorders as well as many monitoring other chronic and preventable diseases.
