Abstract
This paper presents a new method for blur identification of out-of-focus images, which is assumed that at least one sharp edge could be detected. The line spread function (LSF) could be derived from the edge(s) of the image and the perfect line spread functions (LSFs) are constructed from the out-of-focus model. Then least square function is used to determine the radius of defocus blur. This approach has fast speed as it works in spatial domain without complex Fourier transformation or iterative computation. The experimental results validate the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed method.
