Abstract :
Motor drives that give very low torque ripple are the main components of precision machine tools. To further study a novel low cost low torque ripple motor drive, a system model was derived and, it can be shown mathematically that motor torque ripple may be eliminated completely by varying the supply voltage according to the position of the rotor and the commutation pattern in the form of a sine function. To provide the initial proof and to ensure integrity, two uncorrelated and diverse methods of simulation were used and described in this paper. It signals a new breakthrough in the development of low cost high precision servo systems.<>
