Abstract
Direct frequency changers are designed to work under a balanced input condition. The three phase power frequency input voltage of static power converters may be unbalanced either in phase or in amplitude. This paper discusses a novel technique to produce the output of the converter balanced when the input is amplitude unbalanced. The proposed three phase direct frequency changer can find wide applications in motion control, specifically AC drives, when the input AC is amplitude unbalanced. Analytically predicted results are verified by simulation.<>
