  • Abstract
Switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) often employ closed-loop feedback in order to achieve design objectives for line and load regulations and dynamic response. The feedback circuit design problems are characterized by the competing multiple objectives. A computer-aided design environment for SMPS is described in this paper for tackling such problems via multiobjective optimization. The design package, called MATSPICE, consists of the so-called ´M-files´ which links PSpice to MATLAB. SMPS feedback circuit design is performed through selection of compensation topology and performance evaluations in an evolutionary design process. Norms (quadratic measures) of performance are used in each iteration of optimization. An example of a half-bridge switching regulator is used to illustrate the design procedures.<>
