Abstract :
Summary form only given. We have demonstrated diode-bar-pumped Nd:YVO/sub 4/ lasers with 2- to 3-W output power in a highly stable (<1% rms), Q-switched (50-100 ns), TEM/sub 00/ spatial mode (M/sup 2//spl sim/1.05) at high repetition rates (50-150 kHz). High optical efficiencies were achieved, allowing significant enhancement of diode lifetime. An inherently stable, passive optomechanical design was developed for integration into disk-texturing tools.
