Application of CMMI in Innovation Management

In this paper we look through innovation management in small project-based firm, such as software engineering and construction companies, which are service firms that conduct projects for their clients. This research is trying to introduce the technology of Capability Maturity Modelreg Integration (CMMI), which is a process improvement approach that provides organizations with the essential elements of effective processes. Take ABC Software Company as a case study, we compared the performance before and after the introduction of CMMI in the firm and figured out quite a few positive results. To conclude, small project-based firms will benefit a lot if they take CMMI into their process of innovation management, particularly for those R&D firms, since the implementation of CMMI leads them to a promising future with higher efficiency and better effects. This study provides a starting point for the community in considering this important issue.
