  • Abstract
The Long Term Evolution (LTE) of 3GPP radio-access technology aims to develop a framework towards a high-data-rate, low-latency and packet-optimized radio access technology: Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Networks (E-UTRAN). Its uplink multiple access is Single Carrier FDMA, in order to optimize device power consumption. There were originally two TDD (Time Division Duplex) frame structures with different TTI (Transmission Time Interval) length in E-UTRAN and later, after discussion and harmonization, a new TDD frame structure was proposed and agreed by 3GPP. Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) is one of the most important services for future wireless communication networks. This paper evaluates the uplink VoIP performance in the new E-UTRAN TDD mode for different scheduling methods and compares it with the capacity in FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) mode.
