Abstract :
In this paper, we demonstrate that the original 3D carrierless AM/PM (CAP) waveforms are fairly sensitive to quantisation noise. An in-depth investigation to obtain new waveforms that are noise insensitive is presented. The paper also presents numerical studies of the new 3D CAP system under non-ideal scenarios with quantisation noise and NEXT over lossy UTP channels. A comparative study with conventional 2D CAP systems leads to the important conclusion that the new 3D CAP system increases overall system throughput by 50% with very little performance degradation
