Abstract
Power systems can be viewed as interconnections of electrical devices, performing basic functions like generation, transmission, distribution and utilization of electric energy. In the paper, it introduces various platforms for developing self-learning programs tailor made for fresh engineering students to the power system course for understanding various aspects of design, construction and operation of the power system in an interactive multi-media environment. The author shares his experience on developing an interactive multi-media system by using authoring and animating languages. By means of the multimedia tools, scripting commands can be generated to manipulate the sound, movies, and Internet functions including the mutual interactive communication channel
