Abstract :
Power industry is the foundation of national economy. Its contributions to the economy are reflected not only in the value added of its own, but more reflected in the drawing and impetus functions on other sectors. Based on input-output (I-O) method and the comparable PO tables from 1981 to 1992 in China, the paper quantifies the drawing and impetus functions and the total contribution from power industry to other sectors in China. From the results, it concludes that evaluating the contributions of power industry to the economy should adopt the index of total contributions. The sectors with larger drawing functions from power industry include coal and coking industry, oil and gas industry, transportation and telecommunication industry, mechanical industry, etc. The sectors with larger impetus functions from it include other non-material production sectors, mechanical industry and agriculture. The sectors with larger total contributions include mechanical industry, agriculture and other non-matter production sectors.
