Abstract :
The superiority of TDOA-based localization over RSSI-based localization has been pointed out in many papers mainly by the results of theoretical analyses and computer simulations, but it has been rarely confirmed by experiments. This paper compares the location estimation performances between a RSSI-based method and a TDOA- based method by experiments and discusses their pros and cons in detail. It is shown that RSSI-based method is advantageous in the crowded location estimation area where the direct links between a target node and anchor nodes are frequently shadowed by walking men.
