Abstract :
A description is given of a rule-based algorithm which postprocesses the raw sensor output and delivers heart rate, the mean value of the waveform over each period, and a Boolean flag indicating whether the waveform was valid or not. Such provision for heart rate is very important for online estimators and controllers. The algorithm is well within the range of computability for real-time signal processing of the arterial waveform.<>
