Abstract :
In 3GPP LTE, the data and control entities are separate for broadcast and multicast services (MBMS). Hence, it is impossible to support dynamic scheduling, because the control entity is not aware of the traffic. However, semi-static multiplexing i.e. statistical multiplexing is still applicable, where only the statistical characteristic of the aggregated bit rate of the multiplexed services needs to be considered. This paper gives the analysis on the semi-static multiplexing gain for MBMS in the dynamic deployment scenario, where different services have different service areas overlapped with one another. It is shown in the paper that the dynamicity of service deployment has considerable negative effect on the multiplexing gain. The detailed analysis with simulation is provided.
