Abstract :
It is commonly recognized that knowledge is the only source of core competence of companies in the era of knowledge- based economy, but the drain rate of knowledge workers is always high. Many scholars, experts and companies´ managers have been studying on the reasons for knowledge workers´ drain. Based on knowledge workers´ characteristics, this paper categorizes knowledge workers´ career into running-in period, growing period, maturity period and stabilization period. Furthermore, this paper establishes a dominant needs model of knowledge workers´ career, studies and analyzes the reasons for the drain of knowledge workers in their different career period from a dynamic point of view. It is hoped that this paper will help companies to implement different corresponding measures according to different drain reasons during different career periods to lower down the drain rate.
