Abstract
Knowledge service is an innovational service which amalgamates the concept of services innovation and knowledge innovation. Digital library is the national knowledge infrastructure which provides various kinds of knowledge services for promoting knowledge innovation. In order to effectively organize the complex information resources in the digital library and make them understood and processed by machine automatically, more semantic descriptions are needed. Ontology has become a promising technology to express semantics. Ontology concepts and technologies are taken into consideration in this paper, and two domain ontologies are built on the base of our investigation. And then this paper proposes an ontology-based framework for knowledge service in digital library and analyses its service process. Using this framework, more efficient knowledge services can be provided by a digital library for satisfying the customers´ individual requirement about knowledge.
