Abstract :
This paper presents the results of investigation on the effects of high altitude and atmospheric icing on the performance of outdoor insulators. It was found that the air pressure has an obvious influence on the propagation velocity of the arc on ice surfaces, and thus on the flashover performance of insulators covered with atmospheric ice
