Abstract :
The author has developed a software based wind resource assessment (WRA) application for wind data analysis using hourly wind speed data sets in Microsoft Excel format. Features of the software are: an exact quantification and characterization of the energy supply of the wind for three relevant time scales. These can be used to predict wind speed and energy if the models´ limitations are understood. In this paper, we describe how we developed and used the software and perform a case study of three sites in Trinidad and Tobago using 11-year data sets obtained at 10 m
