            Abstract :
A computational tool is presented to analyze fault recordings in Comtrade format, reducing the response times to queries of the behavior of power and protection systems. The tool takes into account the best practices and procedures of analysis in CVG EDELCA, standardizing, preserving and disseminating them among the operation and maintenance units that need it. Visual Basic programming language is used and the outputs of the program are presented in Microsoft Excel, where stand out: voltage and current signals, phase and sequence; apparent, active and reactivate powers; fault and source impedances; fault location; and the performance of the main distance protection relays. This development represents a contribution of great value for the company, since it allows them to evaluate quick and efficiently the occurrence of a fault or event in the system of transmission of CVG EDELCA
