Summary form only given. The paper presents results of the spectroscopic measurements of pulsed plasma streams generated within the IBIS experimental device, which was equipped with coaxial multi-rod electrodes of the RPI type and operated with the pure deuterium puffing. Time-resolved measurements of basic plasma parameters (N/sub e/, T/sub e/, and impurity composition) were performed by means of a MECHELLE/sup /spl reg//900 spectrometer, operated within the 200-1100 nm range at different exposition times ranging from 100 ns up to 50 ms. Particular attention was paid to the emission of spectral lines of the Balmer series from the working gas ions (i.e. D/sub /spl alpha//, D/sub /spl beta// and D/sub /spl gamma//) as well as those from the molybdenum ions, because the electrode rods were made of this material. In the paper there is presented a dependence of FWHM values and spectral lines intensities on the initial gas conditions, which were varied by changes of a time delay between the gas puffing and the application of a high-voltage pulse. On the basis of a quantitative analysis of the selected spectral lines, there were estimated values of the ion temperature (T/sub i/) and electron density (n/sub e/) within the investigated plasma regions. It has been confirmed that at the determined experimental conditions the RPI-IBIS facility generates deuterium plasma streams, which can be characterized by a local thermal equilibrium (LTE) with a good approximation.
