Abstract :
Summary form only given. There has been a considerable interest in single-frequency tunable all-solid-state sources. A novel scheme for a simple and compact design by coupling the pump radiation through a fiber grating (FG) into a Cr/sup 3+/:LiSrAlF/sub 6/ (Cr/sup 3+/:LiSAF) laser is developed similar to Nd:YVO/sub 4/ microchip lasers. This scheme allows direct pumping of a Cr/sup 3+/:LiSAF crystal and spectral narrowing of the Cr/sup 3+/:LiSAF laser can also be possible by a narrowband feedback from the external FG.
