Abstract :
The issues surrounding the lagging economic competitiveness of the US in the world market, which are complex, multifaceted, and do not lend themselves to quick overviews and solutions, are discussed. Fundamental factors considered are: macro economic conditions of the US and its trading partners; US policies and issues including taxation, trade, antitrust, and monetary policies; and standard managerial practices of US businesses.<>
