Abstract :
This paper presents the investigation and study of the regional communication - SCADA network used in the Iraqi North East electrical power system. The failure data of most important twelve RTU-stations are collected for the period 2001-2005. Reliability data such as failure rate, repair rate, MTTR and MTTF are calculated, and then used for evaluation of some important reliability indices such as availability and reliability. Alternative system proposed and models made for the present and the proposed system and their reliability were found and compared
