Abstract :
The adoption of the substation automation (SA) technology for the grids and substations is been increasingly used by the different power utilities all over the world. The old systems are being replaced by these new technologies and this is almost made mandatory by the Regulatory authorities, fn the last couple of years most of the power distribution utilities in India have adapted state of the art substation automation technologies for their grids for energy management systems, distribution management systems and supervisory control and data control as per the respective requirements. North Delhi Power Limited is a major power distribution company in North India. The paper is projected on the systems that have been implemented for the substation automation of the 66/33 kV grids at the utility for metering; monitoring and control. The architecture consists of integrating intelligent electronic devices along with the existing 11 kV grids with Master SCADA
