Abstract :
The YAl3(BO3)4:Ce3+, Dy3+ phosphor was synthesized by high temperature solid state reaction. The luminescence properties and the energy transfer between Ce3+ and Dy3+ were investigated. The emission bands of this phosphor peaked at 419 nm, 483 nm, 575 nm and 667 nm were originated from 5d→4f transition of Ce3+ and 4F9/2→6H15/2, 4F9/2→6H13/2, 4F9/2→6H11/2 transition of Dy3+ respectively. With the increasing of Dy3+ concentration, the intensity of fixed concentration Ce3+ decreased and the intensity of Dy3+ was simultaneously increased. It suggests that there is an energy transfer from Ce3+ to Dy3+ in YAl3(BO3)4 host. According to the Dexter´s energy transfer formula of multipolar interaction, the energy transfer between Ce3+ and Dy3+ is due to the dipole-dipole interaction of the resonance transfer.
