Abstract :
The status of and the urgent tasks that must be addressed by biomedical engineering students in China are discussed. Based on correlated data from questionnaires it is concluded that biomedical engineering education (BME) as a superstructure has taken shape and caught up with the state of the art. A staff has been formed comprising nine professors for a doctoral degree program and 115 professors for a masters degree program. The authors maintain that favorable policies should be carried out to develop the biomedical industry in China and that education should be expanded.<>
