Abstract :
The purpose of this paper is to provide information on the experiences gathered in the motorization of the unit 9 in the Oscar Augusto Machado Plant (OAM) at C.A, La Electricidad de Caracas (EDC). A failure occurred twice in the output circuit of the OAM unit 9, in the opening coil of the 69 kV breakers and this prevented the uncoupling and subsequent disconnection of the unit during the shutdown process of it, causing the motorization of the generator. As a result, it was impossible to shut down the unit following the regular routine established by the control logic
