Abstract
Information/knowledge flowing, spreading and sharing gain increasing concerns among crossover disciplines. With the promotion of technology and hardware for Internet and World Wide Web, especially the appearance of grid technology, information/knowledge flowing and island become a key issue of informatics research. How to reasonably use information or knowledge resources in distributed systems or environments, how to reduce information or knowledge redundancy, and how to eliminate information or knowledge asymmetry become the focus of information service development research. This paper introduces basic concepts and literature reviews of Information Grid (IG) and knowledge grid (KG), explores key protocols and models in IG and KG, compares IG with KG, and prospects the future of IG and KG development.
