Abstract :
A dual converter with circulating current mode is proposed to meet the high-power requirement of four-quadrant DC magnet power supplies. In the power supply configuration, inter-converter inductors are used to limit the circulating current and an additional low-pass filter is required to reduce output ripple current. The operation of the dual converter in this configuration is determined by many circuit parameters, including the circulating current limiting inductors and the additional low-pass output filter. The authors present the steady-state analysis of the dual converter operating in a circulating current mode, with an output low-pass filter, to identify the operating conditions of the proposed power supply configuration. Experimental results are provided to verify the analytical results
