Abstract :
Attention is focused on the objectives related to image analysis issues in a remote-sensing project. Rather than extensively surveying each possible objective that one may have being involved in Earth Observation (EO), this article provides considerations that are relevant in relation to the definition of the objectives and feasibility of a remote-sensing image interpretation application. Possibilities and impossibilities of automated remote-sensing image analysis are discussed, staying constantly in touch with the physical reality of the phenomena of interest, helping an end-user to understand the relation between his objectives and the physical reality
