Abstract :
Most existing 3D ear recognition approaches require range image ear data to work acquired by high cost range scan device. In this work, with line structure light 3D point cloud ear data, we explore a fast 3D ear recognition mechanism based on local surface matching with ICP registration. Experimental results and comparisons on our data set of 50 individuals with 200 images and the UND data set of 100 individuals with 200 images are provided respectively to show the proposed approach holds comparable advantage over current ear range image methods.
