Abstract :
This paper presents an adaptive power system stabilizer (PSS) that together with the automatic voltage regulator (AVR) improves terminal voltage control under different perturbations of the synchronous machine. To validate the proposed methodology, a test system is implemented in laboratory. The performance obtained using the proposed adaptive methodology is compared with the classic proportional integral automatic voltage regulator (AVR). It is shown that a notable improvement on voltage performance can be achieved by the proposed adaptive approach
