Abstract :
This work analyzes the performance of downlink WCDMA with soft handover. A comparison in terms of signal-to-interference ratio between soft handover with handover margin as parameter and hard handover is carried out. For users near the cell border a macrodiversity gain is obtained. This gain depends on the channel multipath characteristics and user density
