Abstract :
We developed software that performs priority-based power management and downtime reduction for virtual machines running in data centers. The software deals with power management at the processor level. The software automatically performs load distribution among servers in data centers to save power. In addition, it reduces downtimes for critical virtual machines. Our experiments have achieved an energy saving of up to 35%. We therefore confirm that the proposed scheme has significantly decreased energy consumption while maintaining high runtime availability for the mission critical applications.
